A Very Merry Market is the primary fundraiser for the Junior League of Alexandria. The money raised during these three days allows the league to invest in central Scholarships for Seniors – five $1,000 scholarships are awarded to local, female, high school seniors who excel in volunteerism. Junior League Foundation – grant money is given to non-profit agencies in central What are Hands For?-program designed and written by League members to teach non-violent conflict resolution to all 2nd grade students in Rapides Parish. Done in a Day- typically projects that can be completed in one day. Recent projects include: collected and distributed backpacks with school supplies for displaced children, refurbished children’s photo area at the Alexandria Zoo, etc. Kids in the Kitchen- a program developed to help fight childhood obesity through education on nutrition and physical exercise.
